Poppies. Poooooooopppppiiiieeeeessss.

Welcome back, stamping friends!

Every time I hear the word poppies, I flash to Wizard of Oz and the witch with her crystal ball. You can hear it now, too, can't you! Well, with all the flowers starting to bloom, I was inspired to use the Large Poppies Stamp from Technique Junkies. Another TJ Stamp, Love and Laughter Floral, added the perfect sentiment.

To make this card, I cut a white panel of Neenah cardstock to 4"x5.25". I stamped and heat embossed the poppies using Versamark and black embossing powder. I grabbed my beautiful mica paints and added some shimmery, shiny color to the flowers and set it aside to dry. On a black piece of cardstock, I stamped and embossed the sentiment using Versamark and coral embossing powder. (Hint: this stamp is one large stamp with a floral and sentiment. I took my scalpel and separated the verse from the flower so I could use them independently of each other.) Using some foam adhesive, I mounted the black panel to the poppies background, and attached that to a black A2 card base.

IRL, the poppies are so shiny and gorgeous. I hope you are inspired to try playing with your stamps today. If you like the stamps I've used, they are available through Technique Junkies. And if you'd like to save 10%, I can help you out!

Happy shopping. Happy stamping.

Neutral Shadows

Technique Junkies Technique!

Hi, fellow stamp fanatics!  Welcome back!

I was perusing some of my old Technique Junkie newsletters the other day, and came across a technique I had not yet tried. It sounded quick and easy, so I gave it a go. The Neutral Shadows technique is from the February/March 2011 (told you they were old!) issue, and was perfect for this sympathy card!

To start, I stamped the Birds On A Fence (S613) stamp using Versamark Ink and embossed with white embossing powder. Even though it turned out more creamy colored than white, I still like it. Then, using a sponge dauber and some Distress Ink, I added color all around the embossed image and wiped off the excess from the embossed area.

I stamped the sentiment from the With Sympathy (SS049) set and added some Nuvo Crystal Drops for a little more dimension.

I hate needing sympathy cards, but at least this one was enjoyable to create!

And don't forget....

Tie Dye Circles

Technique Junkies Challenge

Hello, Stamping Friends! I'm back (again...twice in one week!) with a challenge post. On the second Saturday of each month, Technique Junkies will host a technique challenge. Each month will be a different challenge with samples and directions to the technique. What a great way to learn something new each month!

This month, the challenge is Tie Dye Circles. A link to the directions can be found HERE.  I actually did two cards using this technique, and couldn't really decide which one I liked better. Which one do you like better?

The first card was done on watercolor paper, as the technique suggested, using Distress Inks. The image (Doxie Guilt Trip - SD625) and sentiment (Left Unsupervised - SD780) were heat embossed.

The second one was done on Neenah cardstock using Gelatos. The image (Stand Tall - SD601) was heat embossed and the sentiment and accents are stickers.

I hope you check out all the submissions for this challenge and give this technique a try for yourself!

And remember,
Til next time,

Live, Laugh, Love

Hi, again! So glad you stopped by!  I'm still playing with (and loving) the new April Releases from Technique Junkies and decided I would try a technique I've had my eye on for some time using one of the new stamps.

This salt and watercolor method always catches my eye. And even though I drew funny looks when I went into my craft room with the salt shaker (no, it wasn't for margueritas, although that does sound good...), I ended up with a project I loved.

Along with the new stamp, Butterfly Dreams (S748), I used an older set called Things I Want To Do (S546). For the background layer, I watercolored a piece of CS with a few different yellows and oranges. I then sprinkled salt in several spots and let the piece dry. Once it was completely dry, I brushed off the salt and adhered it to a black mat, and then stuck that on my card base.

I chose three sentiments and stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto the watercolored panel. I added a little black embellishment between each sentiment.

For the focal panel, I stamped the image with Versamark ink and embossed it using some orange embossing powder. I then lightly watercolored the background with a soft yellow and let the panel dry. It was then mounted onto a black piece of CS and attached to the card.

I definitely love this salty little technique and will be using it again...I'm thinking blues and nautical-themed stamps!  And remember...

\I think I'm ready for that marguerita now!

Til next time,
Keepin' it inky!

Faux Chalkboard Stamping
Love and Laughter Floral
This technique has been around for a little while, ever since the whole chalkboard craze started. But I'm going to show you just how easy it really is!
Start with black cardstock cut to size.
Using Versamark ink, stamp Love and Laughterthen emboss with white embossing powder.
I used a Spectrum Noir marker to color in the words.
I then used Nuvo Crystal Drops to add color to the petals and leaves.
Then, simply take a makeup sponge and rub it on a piece of chalk.
Pounce onto the black cardstock adding the chalky film.
I then added some cutouts to the corners to frame the piece.

Happy Planner Page
Coffee Barcode (SD765) & Coffee Kitty (SD735)
I simply stamped that adorable Coffee Kitty on the corner of my planner with Versamark.
I then embossed with black embossing powder and colored with Spectrum Noir markers.
The Coffee Barcode was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black.
Note on the upper right, I used Coffee Gauge (SD703).

Welcome Sweet Baby
Welcome Sweet Baby
I cut out the step card using my Silhouette Cameo.
I then added some pink floral cardstock to the sides and bottom, along with some sparkly adhesive ribbon and buttons.
The booties image was stamped twice: once on the card base and again on a separate piece, which was then trimmed out.
The trimmed booties were then foam-taped to the base image.
I stamped two of the sentiments from the set, Welcome Sweet Baby.
The Welcome piece was diecut and matted with some white cardstock.
I wrapped a pink ribbon around the corner and adhered it to the card.
On the inside, I stamped the third sentiment from the set.

I am absolutely IN LOVE with this stamp!!! It is such a wonderful graphic, that I didn't even do much to it. It's so cute it just shines all on it's own!  I simply stamped Buddies on some brown cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I trimmed it down and adhered it to the kraft card base with some foam tape. The sentiment is from the set Dog Quotes (S137). This will make a great masculine birthday card!

Hope you are enjoying the "hop"! Your next stop will be the wonderfully clever Beth Norman.  Here is the complete line-up in case you missed someone:
